CommentsDevious CommentsMy reason for creating this is to take my original (traditional) portrait a step further, to include more than I would be able to draw, perhaps it will end up being a study for an oil painting. sorry for the lame title, because although it is sized for wallpaper, this illustration was not designed as such. Sometimes I just dont articulate my thoughts well enough (good reason for being a VISUAL artist!)
Perhaps one of you could come up with a better title, please suggest it! Anyhow, heres what thoughts were really going through my head as I designed this work: The choice of imagery is never random; each Photoshop layer has a meaning that reflects my vision of Jimmy Page. Eye of the Storm)He is the creator of his universe, has the power to control and transcend beyond the known (seen) world. He is Master, Magician, and Alchemist. (The Ring of Fire) is a suggestion of the Ouroborus, an ancient symbol that depicts a serpent that swallows his own tail. The ouroboros has been important in religious and mythological symbolism, but has also been frequently used in alchemical illustrations, where it symbolizes the circular nature of the alchemist's work. A symbol of life, death and re-birth, hence; eternal. I get a strong feeling that he has, in a past life, been a druid or shaman, perhaps in the 10th or 11th century. (this comes entirely from my own intuitive sixth sense not from anything I have ever read about him.) His left hand is taken directly from an old and famous photo of him with Led Zeppelin. Within it radiates an energy field, as if he is casting a spell. The energy rays also radiate out from his being, signifying the power of his intellect, his artistic and creative force. The ray of energy (light) that illuminates his personal symbol and name is purposely subtle, because although it identifies who he is, it says little about all that he is. If you notice, although I allude to his interest in the occult, I purposely left out any symbolism linked to dark magic, for I do not get any sense of darkness from him. Much of that I attribute to media hype, and he probably enjoyed being considered an enigma. It certainly did not hurt Led Zeppelins popularity. A heartfelt thank you to =agosbeatle for being so perceptive in her critique. I welcome all feedback, both good and bad, for it helps me enormously to grow in new directions! -- Mans evolution consists in the process of changing to forms that are not of this world. Grows he in time to the formless to live on a higher plane. Know that you must become formless before you can be one with the Light. - Emerald Tablets of Thoth Indeed that is what I perceived. You took Page's intriguing personality and transformed it into a great piece combining both traditional and digital art... I'm a Zeppelin fan, and with my best friend enjoy listening to them, and that's why I could feel what you were trying to say wit the piece.

Then, we have a combination of textures, sky-based, that gives the piece a spiritual aspect, just very Led Zeppelin, bringing back songs like Misty Mountain Hop and The Rain Song.
The hand reaching out is a good touch, calling you into the atmosphere of the work.
Last but not least, the usage of the original Led Zeppelin font and the distinctive logo selected by Mr. Jimmy Page to represent him.
I have no more words for this great piece.
